The WESCAR OK Tire Challenge Series live on 99.3 the DRIVE takes the green flag to start the Competition Automotive 100 at PGARA only to see 4 laps in the book before the yellow caution flag fly as the #94 Fireball Corey Price spins. The race is restarted and on lap 11 the caution flag flies again as #38Thomas inside #52 Grimard coming off turn 2 touch together as Grimard gets loose on the outside groove. The cars behind all check up but are not able to brake fast enough and the #22 McComber is launched down the back straight on his side after being propelled forward into a car from the #18 Thomas car. The ensuing pileup involves #18 Korbin Thomas , 0 BrettYoung, 22 McComber, 38Lee Thomas, 94 Corey Price , 23 Peter Ernst and 52 Garnet Grimard. The race was then red flagged while the Kevin McComber is removed from his #22 and taken to the infield care center to be checked over. He checked out okay and continued to watch the race from the pit area. A restart of the race sees #23 Ernst still in the pits with the crew working quickly to get him back in the race . The #18 crew gets Korbin Thomas back into the race as the green flag drops with a car missing all of the front fiberglass hood, fenders and nosepiece. Not able to continue are #52 Grimard ,# 0 Young and the #22 McComber. With # 5 Larson in the lead on lap 18 the powerplant in the #92 McCarthy car shuts down and he coasts to a stop on the front straight bringing out another caution. Gary is returned to the pits on the hook of a towtruck and is parked for the night with the crew not able to refire the engine. Another restart and they go clean and green with the #5 Ron Larson leading the way and pulling away from the rest of the field with #27 Kunka in 3rd chasing #17 Wilnechenko in 2nd trying to find a way to get around. On lap 61 the last caution of the night flies as #72 in 4th spins as he is tapped from behind by the #94 Price in turn 3 . He doesnŐt touch anything as he slides down on to the grass on the inside of the turn. The restart has the #17 and #27 in 2nd and 3rd close behind the #5 Larson reducing the half lap lead he had developed. As the green flag drops #5 Larson gets a good start and starts to build the lead he had when the 4th caution flew. The last 35 laps is lead by #5 Larson and is not challenged, but behind the leader close racing continues by the #27 and #17 for 2nd and 3rd. Larson is almost half a lap ahead of #17 in 2nd when the checkered flag flies for the #5 Ron Larson in the Turtle Wax car and he wins the WESCAR OK Tire Challenge Series Competition Automotive 100. Next Race Terrace Speedway in Terrace BC May 29th then on to Quesnel*s Goldpan Speedway on June 12th.
