The Wescar OKTire Challenge Series visited Quesnel’s Goldpan Speedway for a second time this season. Brett Young earned the fast qualifying honors in his Fountain Tire Monte Carlo with a 15.211 setting a new record for the WESCAR series at Goldpan Speedway.

In a heat race during the earlier part of the evening 16 yr old rookie Chase Larson in the #2 Regency Chrysler Dodge kept the experienced pack of cars behind him for 15 laps earning a victory, assisting his drive toward the Red Bluff Pub Rookie of the year. When the green flag was displayed at the start of the OKTIRE 100 lap main the race ran clean until lap 5 when the #2 Larson spun unassisted. The race was later interrupted with cautions on laps 47 when the rookie #43 Dallas Mayert spun, and lap 67 when the two other rookies #71 Dave Olson and the #2 Larson spun in turn 3. As the race headed towards the checkered flag the leader #5 Bob Williams in his Turtlewax Monte Carlo was chased by both the #52 Napa Chevy of Garnet Grimard and the #0 Fountain Tire Chevy of Brett Young. Neither the #52 or the #0 were able to mount a charge to successfully challenge the #5 for the lead. When the checkered flag waved the #5 Williams passed under it first with Williams Lake’s #52 Grimard in 2nd and PG’s #0 Young in third very close behind.
