WESCAR 1st Race Safety Tech

May 18, 2006

Notice to all WESCAR Teams: 1st Race Safety Tech

Just a heads up on what safety concerns will be checked for at the
first race in Prince George, May 27, 2006.

Things we would like to see:

1. FUEL CELL - Mounting, ground strap, 10" ground clearance,
8" ahead of rear bumper, vent hose must extend to bottom of tank,
and protection bars behind your cell.
(I will also be looking to see who has a plastic cell and
who has a bladder cell - this is not a concern at this time, don't panic)

2. DRIVERS FIRE PROTECTION - Checking gloves, proper driving boots,
helmets and their snell rating, checking suits for rips and for cleanliness.

3. BELTS - How they are mounted and the year of the belts (I would
like to see nothing over 5 years, this is recommended),
also looking for any tears or fraying.

4. WINDOW NETS - Check mounting, and fraying.

5. DRIVESHAFTS - Proper driveshaft hoop, also your driveshaft
should be painted white.

6. INTERIOR - I'll be looking for holes in your firewall, making sure
your switches are CLEARLY marked, checking master switches,
checking drivers door protection, and rollbar padding.

7. BATTERIES & LEAD - Make sure they are SECURLEY tied/bolted down.

8. FIRE EXTINGUISHERS - I will be checking for each car to have a
firebottle system or easily accessible extinguisher.
Also, I'd like each team to have an extinguisher in their pit which you will
have with you when you come through tech at the start of each race day.
This will also have your car number on it.

I would like to discuss at the track, putting together a small group
to be our own "safety safari" in case of a fire, bad wreck, whatever,
because a lot of the tracks we go to, the safety people may not
understand our car configurations and that can become a problem
in a bad wreck. This will be discussed further at the track,
see you all there. Mike Ernst
